 -  You Surprised Me -

Falling in Love - Being in Love

How to tell You, oh, how to speak,
of the ecstasy that fills me,
of the heavenly joy I feel,
as I find myself in love and feel so deeply loved!

I know now what it means to be alive!
I have energies I never knew before.
I feel both strong and tender.

Love has shown me the beauty of tears,
the dignity of my body,
the pain of separation,
the ache of longing,
and the ardour of passion.

Oh, how good it is to be alive,
and to let love fill me and guide me!

I never knew I could carry another in my heart
and feel someone's presence so intensely,
without effort and without fatigue.
I never knew I could ache for another’s pain
as much as for my own — or even more.

I feel treasured and cared for.
I feel a new aliveness,
a new reverence for myself.
I am in love with life,
close to all that lives,
and closer than ever to You.

I feel like singing;
I feel like shouting;
I am left speechless when I try to talk.

I feel healed of a thousand hurts.
I have seen fears giving way to confidence,
and adolescent awkwardness replaced by tenderness.

Thank You
for making me capable of such love.
Thank You for the beauty we have discovered in each other —
the sparkle in the eye,
the little gestures of tenderness,
the warm glow on the face,
the radiance that comes from within.

Thank You for all that we love with —
our hearts and minds, our bodies, our passion,
our gestures and words, and, above all,
the gift of wonder and forgiveness.

Your saints —
far greater lovers than we —
have told us
that all our love is but a little ray of Your divine light;
that out human ecstasy is only a small,
small reflection of You.

Tiny though it be compared to Your splendour,
what a lovely ray it is,
and what unspeakable beauty it has shown me!

Thank You, Divine Lover, thank You!
Having awakened my heart through love's tender touch,
lead me to the unending ecstasy for which You created me.
